I am a computer science student at the university of Bristol. I studied maths, physics, and chemistry at A level and received A*s in all. I have tried many different methods of revision and have tutored younger students throughout my secondary school experience.
I mostly find that using a sample question to first help a student understand the theory behind a mathematical concept is the most effective (as it helps build a foundation to understand harder concepts later on). Then using worksheets and past papers for repetition to ensure the theory and method of completing the question is memorised.
I also have experience with teaching how to complete questions with the correct working steps in order to gain all marks in an exam question. I believe, depending on how much time is available before an exam, this should be done once the student fully understands the concept. However, if in a rush, I understand that this can be more important if the aim is to simply pass an exam and understand the maths later.
I am fully aware that different methods work well for different children and am happy to cater to each child’s needs. I am mostly available for online lessons, however, am willing to offer in person lessons in Bristol during term time.
I am new to this platform and am willing to offer a free trial lesson. I will need to know the level of maths needed and any specific exam board if relevant so that I can acquire the correct recourses.
