I always try to adapt my teaching styles based on the student. That way, when I teach, I can ensure that the student is engaged and is learning to the best of their ability. For example, some people may be visual learners, whilst others could learn through songs and acronyms. I would always be prepared, bringing resources to the sessions and searching for past papers to practice with. I would look over the topic the student is hoping to learn and create a lesson based on this, including ways of teaching that work best for the child. I am very patient and therefore willing to spend as long as it takes to help someone learn; I am also optimistic and smiley so people tend to feel comfortable around me, making them more eager to learn. I aim to always be fair: I would never be too strict as I believe this can hinder the experience, however I would also not just mess around, I would strive to always find the right balance. I am currently studying for my GCSEs but have tutored many people in the past. I am a maths ambassador at my school and every week attend ‘maths help’ where I help fellow students complete their homework, study for tests and learn topics they are stuck on. This has proved to be very successful and something I thoroughly enjoy doing. As I am the oldest of 3, I also have experience with helping younger children and how to work well with them.
