After many years (30 years) of teaching in a Nursery/Primary school and tutoring private classes, I have learnt what is of primary importance in education is to draw on the the indivdualityof each student. Nurturing and encouraging them to develop a Growth Mindset to ensure they become resilient and persevere in the face of challenges.
Enabling students to learn in a safe, open, caring, collaborative and inclusive atmosphere. Students should feel confident to have open and honest conversations about their learning and how they can get better. Create a positive atmosphere by building relationships, behaviours, and inclusive learning experiences that support a good struggle for all your learners.
Focusing on Learners and Learning putting learners and their learning first. Understanding the difference between learning and the factors that affect learning, which allows for planning and supporting the struggle for all your students to get better. Facilitate learning outcomes, content and experiences, which are underpinned by positive and supportive relationships. Understand the types and phases of learning and apply knowledge, skills and understanding of these to effectively facilitate learning, teaching, and assessing to meet the personalised needs of each student. Empower students to lead their own learning, supporting them to monitor, assess and adjust their learning in response to feedback. Support students to become leaders of their own learning by helping them develop their voice, choice and ownership of their learning process.
Continuously inquire into the process of learning, to make evidence-informed decisions and taking action to further improve learning and teaching. Furthermore, being active and accountable for my contribution in setting my own professional goals, targets and action steps that focus on improving learning.
