I like to think that maths is accessible to everyone, provided they have someone who is patient and willing enough to help them understand it. As such, I try to tailor the way I help each person to what they respond to best, and always treat them with kindness and understanding to help them feel comfortable in asking questions and letting me know where they are struggling. I always try to help students understand maths because understanding concepts in mathematics is the key to learning and doing well in it.
I’m a very visual person, so I like to make use of diagrams and visual tools to help students see what they are learning. I find that maths is easier and more accessible when you draw out what is happening as it goes from an intangible idea to a physical shape on the page. Hence, this is one of the main tools I use in helping students learn and understand maths.
I like to take my time when teaching concepts. It is important to me that the student understands what they are doing, more than completing something for the sake of completion. Therefore, I will always be patient and go at a pace that suits the individual.
I am happy to teach online, or in person at my home. I offer 1 hour lessons per week, however the frequency can be increased if you want more. My hours are flexible, and I can try and teach whenever is most convenient for you.
