I have over a decade of experience in health and social care. Starting off my career in health and social care I have worked hard from the ground up and am proud of my support worker roots. I know how to support others to inspire to be the next generation to provide high-quality, empowering care and the benefits it can bring. As part of my role, I use my personal experience to share knowledge and skills with those working in care.
I am currently attending York University where I am enrolled on the undergraduate MSc Occupational Therapy programme. I have a BSc (Honours) Health and Social Care degree which I completed with the Open University. I like to make my sessions interesting and interactive using tools such as videos to generate discussions and quizzes to embed learning. I like to use my experiences to share with others to help understanding and how to put this knowledge into practice. I do use PowerPoints but prefer to use these as a guide rather than reading directly from them as attended too many sessions that are like that and you what to fall asleep! Learning is my passion hence why I am confusing to develop in my practice and knowledge to understand more about how to support individuals in a way that is person centred. I find generating discussions is a good way to ask open questions and allow for learners to practice self reflection, as this is an important skill to learn.
