Throughout my experience as an English teacher, the planning, delivering and marking of relevant curriculum has been a part of my everyday job. On a daily basis, I have delivered lessons to classrooms of up to 30 students, with ages ranging from 11-18. I have found creative ways of encouraging the learning of English, whether this be through presentations, written work, creating memorable raps or having interesting debates.
Additionally, I have experience of teaching English as a second language to adult learners, with a particular emphasis on asylum seekers and refugees who are new to the country, with little experience of the culture or language. I have done this voluntarily, and in an environment where there has been very little access to IT and technology. I believe this has been highly valuable for the developing of my teaching, as I have found new and creative ways to teach English.
I have found a great balance of being welcoming, humorous but also firm in my approach to inspiring learners. I use a range of different teaching resources to make lessons as engaging as possible. I truly believe teaching and learning can be a very fun and enjoyable experience.
