I have more than 20 years' experience teaching university mathematics and statistics in the USA, Hong Kong and the UK, which includes outreach to local high schools. So, I have some understanding of the evolution of high school math education.

I also worked as an online private tutor, who teaches competition math such as Math Kangaroo, AMC and AIME; public exams such as TMUA and STEP; as well as undergraduate math modules for students majoring in math, physics and computer science.

In my online tutorials, the basic concepts of a relevant chapter are revised. Questions are asked to check the students' understanding. This part can be shortened if the student shows reasonable understanding. Then, students will do some exercises (or past exam paper questions at a later stage of the preparation) in that chapter, and I'll observe if there are any mistakes. Hints are given if students do not know how to start or how to organise. Finally, we investigate if students' solutions can be improved rather than just getting the correct answer. By doing enough exercises, I show the students how to develop a feeling if they have done something wrong. Some exam tricks can be discussed if they are useful in a particular exam or competition.

At certain levels (like GCSE or GCE A-level) where intensive practice is necessary, I give assignments and students' work is marked. Suggestions are made showing students how to improve.

Please drop me a message if you need help with math or theoretical physics from high school to beginning graduate level.
