I have been tutoring for just over 2 years now and specialise in Mathematics. I teach a range of students from 10-16 year olds. I base my lessons according to the student and don't have a consistent plan that I use for everyone. This is due to my personal opinion of how every student is different and requires a different focus in order to be successful. Some of my teaching methods include: an interactive method of we do, you do where I go through an example with the student and then the student completes one on their own, I also regularly use powerpoint but I prefer to freestyle and make my own as again each student is unique and individual. I like to create plans as I'm quite organised so my students have an understanding of what is being covered and when. I regularly use practice tests and depending on the student these can be informal as my main thing is to make sure the student feels comfortable as I understand the anxiety some student can have around exams. Finally in terms of homework I set as much as I feel is necessary but will always set more for the students that I can tell are overachievers. It's always my aim to ensure a student doesn't feel overwhelmed by their workload whilst also understanding the importance of meeting deadlines in order to prepare for the future. I try my best to align with their school curriculum so the student has a sense of consistency within their learning.
