Ava Stark

While working on a Master's in English Literature, I've become fascinated with utilizing my degree to further assist students that are at-risk or feel disheartened by the United States education system. I am pleased to assist students/individuals from primary school to the collegiate level, but have most closely worked with high schoolers. I have worked in-person to closely understand my students and help further their understanding of their history and English courses, but have been able to stretch myself towards math, science, and extracurricular activities.

Watching a students' growth is an achievement in itself and has become a passion for myself, as there is nothing quite as intoxicating as watching the 'lightbulb click' and witnessing the excelling nature that comes afterwards. This has been coupled with statistics that prove I can work well with others, achieving anywhere between 30-50% higher grade averages in high schoolers that were on the verge of failing out of their class. Regardless of what education level, I am willing to work with the student and admit when I am wrong (which feels quite accomplishing, as it demonstrates the competency of the student and engagement with the material at-hand).

Outside of my work, I enjoy playing video games and stream on Twitch to an average viewer base of 25-30. I enjoy playing Dungeons & Dragons with my partner of two years, and have become a dedicated dog mom to a foster pup that was abused for the early part of her life. I believe that individuality is important and beyond just tutoring, being able to connect on a one-to-one level is of utmost importance in helping others excel in their goals.
