I took A level maths at BHASVIC which is where my love for the subject grew and turned into an obsession. I then went on to complete a dissertation in the subject. Specifically surrounding the topic of base 12 mathematics. I was tutored in maths for 3 years and found that the method of teaching that worked best for me was question practice and understanding. I found that if I worked to understand a topic in depth, the questions would become easier and working would become more structured.
I take the same approach in my teaching by helping students to understand a topic rather than memorising a method. I am flexible when it comes to different teaching materials as I prefer to find what works best with the student and help them to achieve their desired outcome from tutoring sessions.
