I work using PowerPoints, interactive technology and play to support my students in maximising their learning potential. This is used in both my English and Mathematics lessons. I offer homework to students, who I feel would benefit, that is tailored to their tricky areas to support them in developing a deeper understanding of concepts and help with retention of previous topics. I work closely with the students and parents to set clear and achievable goals which will be reviewed regularly. This allows everyone to really celebrate the progress the student has made and create a plan for future sessions.

I refuse to judge students based on what given guidelines state they should be capable of, but rather their own progress. I will always work in their best interests and never rush them to understand something they do not. Instead, I will take steps to help them build their foundation knowledge, allowing them to move towards mastering a topic.

The student is the focus and this is reflected in the layout of my lessons. The first few minutes of the session will be a review and assess section. This lets me see what the student may already understand and which areas may require some more support, even if this means scrapping it all together and starting from the beginning! The rest of the lesson goes from there and I always have resources available and ready to use that are aimed at any level of understanding, be that above or beyond or taking a step back to build on the basics at a later date.
