Getting students to pick out their favourite artist, authors or poets. Then doing individual character studies with the chosen subjects. In this case a student is going to be a lot more interested in learning about someone/something they are passionate about.
I have studied many Poets and writers over the years, and my way of learning has always been to get hands on whether it’s to deep dive into a book or to copy out rhyme schemes of another poet. Try to assimilate the work. I will bring this into the classroom per say. I always find that having a physical copy of something works better- for example, in any case where we can actually get a book, we’ll have a book for them so I can get hands-on. It’s better to feel and to see it’s easier to learn as well whether it means going out to the local libraries or it means posting individual copies of whatever we are studying out, so it will have to be done.
At the end of the day, I wanna have a chance to teach and what I’ve learnt back to the future generations because as we know the children are the future!
