Lessons are much more than a video call.
I would build a relationship with the student, discussing shared interests and their extra-curricular activities to create a productive working environment. Therefore, I am in an excellent position to appreciate that students are individuals and can integrate students’ interests into the lessons. Moreover, I already have experience tailoring resources and lessons for individual needs, be there a particular weakness or a barrier to learning such as dyslexia or EAL. Whatever the need, I am used to catering for it and devising a way around it. This is a crucial skill that will help in the classroom, where I will devise lessons that are accessible for all of the students. I am good at explaining concepts using language carefully to impart knowledge. I am a very good role model and have a lot of experience targeting specific areas of a subject in order to help students improve and progress. I can plan interesting and relevant lessons and I have knowledge of the wider curriculum which I would be keeping myself updated so I can deliver the appropriate level of teaching following the curticulum. I have experience in teaching Maths and English to students and used different strategies in Maths to help children become more familiar and confident when using methods of working out. With English I have looked at targets of what the children need support on and used a bookto enhance their skills throughout lessons to help them reach their end target and include what they have been taught. For example fronted adverbials, speech punctuation, paragraphs, conjunctions.
