I am flexible in formatting my lessons as to what would most benefit the student, whether this would be more informal conversational sessions where I set short essay-style questions and give feedback in real time, or where I supplement the school curriculum that the student already has in place by looking into key themes of set texts, focusing on writing skills, and creative and/or essay writing...
I am flexible in formatting my lessons as to what would most benefit the student, whether this would be more informal conversational sessions where I set short essay-style questions and give feedback in real time, or where I supplement the school curriculum that the student already has in place by looking into key themes of set texts, focusing on writing skills, and creative and/or essay writing practices. I believe that the most productive lesson is one that the student leaves feeling more confident in their skills, and I aim to bolster this confidence through frequent feedback on written work.
I am an experienced tutor working in alternative provision and supplementary school work tutoring with secondary school-age students who need lots of support to understand their English curriculums and develop the skills necessary to pass their exams, and I have experience as a teaching assistant for students aged 4-12 in English and Maths. Each student will have their own best way to learn, depending on their age, strengths, and what they enjoy in each subject. I check in with students during each lesson to make sure that they are getting the most out of each lesson. Often students get tutoring because they feel they want more support in specific subject areas, or perhaps their teachers have suggested it. Before starting tutoring I would want to know exactly what the student hopes to gain out of our lessons in order to make it a worthwhile experience for them.
I also provide advice and support for university admissions, specifically for Russell Group and Oxford and Cambridge University applications. As an Oxford University graduate and current Masters student I am well-positioned to walk an applicant through this process. This would entail advice and support for personal statements and UCAS statement questions, admissions exams, and interview preparation and advice, such as mock interviews.
I can tutor across London. If you are not sure if I cover your area please get in touch!

Asha is a fantastic English tutor. She has helped our son immensely with his exam technique, which in turn has grown his confidence for exams in general.

Asha is amazing! My daughter has gained in confidence since starting lessons with Asha and finally enjoys English Literature. Asha always gives excellent guidance, advice and suggestions, and she has a great way of getting my daughter to generate her own ideas. I would highly recommend Asha!
