I teach with fun in mind, and I try share with my students the joy I find in the subject.
Since my A-level years, I have found myself entrenched in a materials and engineering degree. And whilst I learnt a great number of useful skills, I found myself longing once more for the simplicity of pure physics, taking time to read books on quantum physics and more. I would spend ages conversing with people on these topics, explaining concepts in geometry
and space time with glee. I found myself missing teaching. Therefore, I am currently taking a year out before I continue on to a Master’s degree in Engineering and I have decided to look into tutoring. If I can help even one student find the joy in physics, and therefore successfully complete their GCSE’s, and even move on to a higher degree in Physics I will be grateful.
GCSE physics exams only require you to memorise a certain number of equations, and whilst the scary symbols and big numbers are daunting, once you understand why they work, how they apply to the real world, the symbols become something more. For instance "v" isn't just the letter v, but how fast a sports car is driving, and you can find out how long it will take to complete the race with only two more pieces of information!
Physics is logic, and if you know up from down and left from right, you can do well in a physics exam. All it takes is a bit of curiosity and an appreciation of how great physics can be.
This is what I try to teach to everyone, and it has helped students in the past and I hope it will help more in the future.
