Hi, my name is Arman! I am a current Philosophy student at the University of Warwick, and I will be tutoring GCSE Mathematics. I have experience teaching, having taught Qur'anic Arabic to students age ranging from 5-12 for 3 years, as well as instructing at my secondary school's CCF program.
As for credentials, I achieved an A in both A- Level Mathematics (Pure, Statistics and Mechanics) and Physics.
My first session will involve assessing the students current level, as well as figuring out (with the student) what areas they would like to work on in particular. The following weeks will subsequently involve study, primarily in the form of past paper questions and some theory, in those topics. My preferred method of teaching is through use of past paper questions, as I feel through practice a student will improve, rather than through reading textbooks mindlessly. Focusing on weaknesses will lead to greater success when it matters.
To be specific, in a session lasting one hour, I will initially set the student out on a set of focused past paper questions for about half an hour. In the second half, we will review their answers, understanding where they went wrong and how to avoid such mistakes. We will also study common strategies to employ throughout the exam and what the exam structure is likely to look like.
I am likely to be available in person in either the Coventry area (during term time) or in Epsom (during holidays), but I will be fully available online throughout the year.
