Personally, when explaining something to someone I will give them a real life example to help them understand, not only does it help them later apply in the real world, but also helps for them to understand it more if they can relate to it.I love maths and currently do business and economics A-Level,to study maths at university in the future,I have achieved a 6 in GCSE maths so I believe I have a very decent grasp on the content and will be able to help students understand the content, seeing as I’ve only recently done the GCSE.I would start tutor sessions with starters of the last lesson to help students remember the content better and help if they seem to be struggling. When questioning them about content,if they seem to be struggling I will help them through until they understand and at the end of the session I will ask them again to see if they have learnt.I can be patient with people who struggle to focus and keep prompting them to concentrate, having a younger sister with ADHD who I help anyways. Before moving on to different content I will check their understanding and then go on to test their ability in a quiz, not only focusing on content, but making it applicable to the real world by doing problem-solving questions, checking their application and not only their knowledge.Furthermore,I would set them easy minimal homework as I believe homework can cause more harm than good and would push their potential in lesson king the homework in the following session.
