My passion for music lies in both analysis and performance, as well as composition. I have been performing for 15 years in both amateur and professional environments, as well as writing for about half that time. The GCSE and A Level courses present particular challenges to students, no matter their level, be it in the structure of their prose in the long form answers, the aural skills required for the listening sections of the papers, or the specific marking rubric for composition. I am also happy to help with Oxbridge applications for music, having been successful myself and gained a lot of knowledge of the process. Our sessions can take different forms: for composition, a fortnightly checkup on progress is ideal I find. This gives you time to act on any suggestions I have, and gives me enough new material for us to make progress. For the other parts of the paper, weekly sessions would be more beneficial, I can send you questions in advance, or you could ply me with any answers you've prepared before the session, which we will discuss. I can give aural tests from the piano, or can prepare some in advance and send them via mp3. I am open to discussing any area of music, be it the course or otherwise. One of the key factors for success in both courses is further listening: your exposure to music matters almost more than anything else! As such, I will provide a custom 'playlist' for each tutee, in an effort to widen your listening tastes and knowledge.
