My teaching style is primarily centered on class engagement. I adapt my teaching style in order to cater to everyone and make the material as interesting as possible in terms of the different needs of students e.g., SEND/SEN and EAL pupils. I like to use group exercises and swap work to write the next step for the person sitting next to you for peer learning and add starter and recall slides for pupils to think about their previous knowledge. Colourful PowerPoint slides, video lessons, and use a visualiser where possible to demonstrate my teaching points. I always plan a plenary at the end of the lesson in the form of a self-review for students to write what went well and what they find hard in the lesson. I believe this is something that increases student interest significantly, and from my experience, leads to a better learning experience overall.
I am highly effective at behavioral management and focus on the three R’s of RESPECT, RESPONSE, and the RIGHT way to learn. These have served me well over time Respect is the respect of each other and me. RESPONSE is the process that we all abide by in the classroom when either asking questions or answering questions. The RIGHT approach to learning is getting the students to understand the benefits of learning and how it impacts their Future. In managing behavior, I used 10-minute quiet working time and issue warnings accordingly. These boundaries I implement within my lessons have stood me in good stead and I rarely have behavioural issues with my students.
