I have been teaching mathematics up to GCSE level for a month now and my preferred way to teach studetns is to create a powerpoint presentation complete with examples of the topic, definitions and questions with my working out for my students to follow if they are stuck. I have hints in covered-up boxes that I remove if my student require a gentle push in the right direction and I make sure to include colour and use different fonts to engage my pupils.
For students that are familiar with the topic we are covering but require more practise, I create a sheet full of questions and have my own answer sheet with full working out for each question to talk my student through.
I do make sure to check when my student needs a couple of rests so they are not tired and ask them if I need to go over a concept or explain the working out in a different manner. I accomodate the needs of my students; if they need silence to work I make sure to mute myself and let them ask for help so they push themselves to find the answer. This is so they are independent and not reliant upon me. I also ensure that they student knows if they are not comfortable to have their camera on it is ok and to use the chat function to communicate.
Finally, at the end of the lesson, I ask my students what they have gained confidence in, if there is anything they would like to revisit next lesson, and if appropriate, what topics they would like to have a look at next lesson.
Student safety is my top priority and any reason I have to suspect a student is in danger I will report immediately to the company and pass in any necessary details such as what has happened, time and the date.
