When taking on a new student, I encourage their guardian to take some time to talk with me about their child and what they aim to gain from my tuition. In doing so, I'll gain a good understanding of your child's academic abilities, their subject syllabus, their preferred methods of learning, and their attitude towards learning the chosen subject. Also, this time is just as important for you to get to know me and build confidence in entrusting me with your child's education and welfare.
My lessons usually follow a simple structure, yet remain flexible to accommodate the student's and guardian's needs. Depending on the client's schedule, I will arrive early to discuss any updates with the guardian and student regarding their academic progression and/or regression, along with observing the student's behavior and attitude. This will aid my approach to the lesson, ensuring a structure that's appropriate for the student on that day.
Then we will begin the lesson, which will start with a swift analysis of previously assigned homework, either by me or a school teacher. If the student struggled with anything in particular, we would make that topic the focus of the lesson; otherwise, we will move on to a new topic.
For me, a successful lesson ends with a clear-minded student inspired to pursue and understand new information, thus broadening their scope of the world.
