Having taught IGCSE English Literature in various environments to students of different backgrounds (international schools and autism centres), my method of teaching is particular to the student(s) I'm working with to ensure the best quality of teaching. Typically, however, I will begin with a reading of the text followed by a couple minutes of independent contextual study. Following this, I will go through (interactively with the student) possible themes and ideas of the text. After a secure foundation knowledge of literary devices, students can identify their uses within a text and cross reference them with me before I give a detailed analysis. Taking notes throughout the lesson is encouraged, but I can provide them as well at the beginning of each lesson. Students can receive essay help with how to structure a GCSE level essay and how to best answer them by going through practice questions with me. I can go through essays with the student, providing detailed feedback and encouraging re-writes.
I also have experience leading creative workshops for primary school students and am currently completing a course for drama in education. I would be happy to help develop creative writing skills in younger children through arts and crafts, as well as 'small moment' writing exercises. Older students looking for writing help for English Language can also receive feedback for writing exercises.
