I have achieved eleven 7-9 Grade GCSEs including a 9 in Mathematics and Chemistry and an 8 in Biology and Physics. I also have achieved an International Baccalaureate Diploma and I am currently studying Medicine.
I have over a year of tutoring experience and have had time to hone and master my teaching style so that it benefits students the most. In my classes there is a large emphasis on practising and applying knowledge that is learnt or revised since to has been proven that the best way to retain and understand information in the long term is to test yourself on the knowledge and to apply the knowledge in context. In my lessons there is always a portion of the session after the student understand the knowledge that I test them or challenge them to see that knowledge in a new context to consolidate their understanding. The basic structure of my lessons is first establishing what the students already knows, then filling in the gaps in their knowledge. Once all the relevant knowledge has been understood it is then tested through practise questions. At the end of the session I will suggest resources which can be used for independent study which we can review together in the next session.
In addition to the focus on consolidating the students learning, I am very dedicated to each student that I teach and I am invested in them having the best understanding and subsequent results as possible. I think that tutoring is an excellent tool to get to that extra level of understanding which just is a major help to making school more enjoyable.
