I am a warm and caring teacher and the first thing I do is get to know my pupils and put them at ease. I also spend a long time talking to their parents about their concerns and hopes. I then assess where the child is at, but I do this with fun games not endless tests. I can then analyse the gaps and build a programme to plug those gaps. I will base this on the child's interests, so maybe we will write and read about horses or dinosaurs or superheroes! We may be sitting at a table or crawling across the floor, but I guarantee your child will want to come back for more and that they won't realise how much they are learning. My aim will always be to build confidence and eliminate all those anxieties that sometimes build up in school.
After over 30 years of working in busy Nursery and primary classrooms it is a real privilege to use all my expertise on just 1 child at a time.
