For my lessons I will be using a mixture of traditional exercises and activities, some amount of theory and most of all practical application of the drawing principles, meaning there will be lots of drawing and experimenting involved! I will explore such drawing basics as weight, light and shadow and perspective. I will encourage various tasks to do outside of class, such as attending life drawing classes, and observational drawing when out and about.
I want my classes to be fun and an enjoyable experience for the students, where they will be able to learn in a safe and relaxed way, with a structure that allows for them to ask plenty of questions along the way. As someone who has taught herself the foundations through plenty of hard work, I can certainly empathise that learning new skills takes time and patience, and I aim to make the experience as enjoyable as I can.
I am incredibly passionate about creativity and drawing in particular, and I hope you will be too! As an illustrator I specialise in drawing stylised characters, however the basics of drawing theory inform my work to a significant degree, and I feel they are very important to learn for any artist. Whether you are looking to get better at observation sketching, developing an illustration style of your own for future or just want to learn a little more about drawing, I am flexible and will take your interests and objectives into account when putting together a lesson plan.
