My lessons will differ hugely depending on the student, but a basic first step that I will take with every student is to ensure there is a full understanding of the mark scheme. Once we have understood exactly what each assessment objective requires, and which assessment objectives the different styles of questions concern, we can dive into the content.
I will ask students to provide me with any specific areas of concern, whether that be a whole topic, paper, or a smaller area or study that you are struggling with. If there aren't any specific areas you would like us to go over, we will work through the topics in an order that suits you, perhaps based on when you learned the topics and which need more refreshing.
We will make use of as many styles of learning as possible to focus on finding a revision technique that suits your individual needs - for example, I love a visual aid such as a mind map, so I tend to use those.
I will aim to keep the lessons as light hearted and fun as possible - there is nothing worse than coming out of a tutoring session feeling more stressed than when you started! The main goal is to keep stress levels down to a minimum and find a way to engage with the content that works for you.
We will approach content in a formulaic way that works with what the mark scheme requires from your answers. I found this was the best way to reach the higher mark brackets and to feel confident that you have provided the correct information in the correct places!
I am happy to provide homework if that is something that you might find useful, however I will not be strict about this.
