Over the last fourteen years, I have gained excellent customer service and educational skills and experience as follows. As a Veterinary nurse, I provide education to creche students near the practice at times. Working on reception, I greet clients and serve either medication or information as they require in a positive and prompt fashion. I educate pet owners on recommended healthcare and the food, medication or procedures available at the clinic. I provide support at all times for the customers and their pets. I provide discharge advice after a procedure or illness when their pet returns home to help the owners continue the animals care. I have also given school biology and nature tours from creche age to leaving certificate students for two years around Castlecomer discovery park and abroad for nearly a year at a Maltese nature reserve. This involved fun activities for the students including river water quality surveys, environmental conservation and the use of quadrats for grassland vegetation identification. I have had customer service experience in all my positions.
I have two life science degrees including chemistry, physics, biology, data analysis, zoology, earth and environmental science. I also have over fourteen years’ experience typing up laboratory reports, my thesis and other documents using the Microsoft components. As part of my current and previous roles, sample testing and scientific research to obtain veterinary diagnosis has been necessary. I am fully experienced in laboratory safety standards required by students for their science subjects. I am quite good at maths during school and as a veterinary nurse. We are required to prepare medication and fluid therapy measurements for each animal. These calculations needed to be accurately given based on calculations per animal’s weight (kg). This was carried out multiple times a day as usually we would have several inpatients and surgery patients daily. I am experienced in teaching these skills to veterinary nursing students. I enjoy teaching students in a fun way!
