I studied violin and piano at the Royal Academy of Music. I hold an RAM professional certificate and an LRAM violin teachers' diploma. I also took a post-graduate course in orchestral studies at the National Centre for Orchestral Studies (NCOS) and obtained the NCOS diploma. For most of my life I have worked primarily as an orchestral violinist, first in Germany as a member of the Bad Reichenhaller Philharmonie, then as a freelance musician in London. For the last 20 years I have combined my professional orchestral activities with offering private tuition in my home in violin and piano and, more recently, viola. I teach pupils aged 7 upwards, beginners to advanced in all 3 instruments. Adults welcome. My aim is to make music an enjoyable experience, and I encourage my pupils to learn to make a beautiful sound and enjoy playing (and listening to) simple melodies as well as music by the great composers. To do this they need access to a suitable instrument (I can help give advice about this) and they also need to have time to practise regularly.
