I was born in New York but lived all of my school years in Bergen, Norway.
I loved University so I studied a lot, mainly in Bergen but also in New Orleans. I studied English, French, Psychology, Social Anthropology. I also took some courses in Music, History and Languages when I was in New Orleans.
After I finished my Bachelor’s degree + and my Postgraduate Certificate in Education, I started working at an adult language school (Folkeuniversitetet) teaching Norwegian and English as a second language. A year later I was privileged to get a permanent job at one of Norway’s best Upper Secondary schools, Bergen Katedralskole. I was a form teacher and I taught English, Social Sciences and Psychology.
For the last ten years I've been teaching Norwegian online and at Morley College and Cactus Language Learning.
After many years experience teaching languages, I can confidently say that communication is key, so during my lessons we focus a lot on talking and using the language. Grammar and rules are of course a must, but in every lesson my students get to speak in the target language.
I've been told that my lessons are very enjoyable and I think that is because I'm sociable and I thoroughly enjoy teaching and getting to know my students. There's a good energy and I am very patient as well. I have experience teaching all levels and I enjoy them all because they give me different challenges. Everyone is unique and I therefore make tailored lesson plans to suit each student's needs.
