My lessons are delivered through a PowerPoint, on which I can write and model answers. Teaching is most effective when you keep your strategies simple and adapt them for each individual learner.

My lessons start of with a recap of the lesson before or any prerequisite skills that are required for that lesson or topic. We then move on to introducing new learning with step by step modelled examples. Then, depending on the learner’s understanding, we move onto some assessment questions; which allows me to see what the learner has understood and gives me the chance to clear misconceptions. After this the student is set a task with increasing difficulty and then we finish of with a plenary.

The plenary activity depends on the ability and age of the student. So if the student is preparing for their GCSE, then the plenary will be an exam question. GCSE students will be exposed to a lot of exam questions, so they can learn and practice their can techniques. Students who are not preparing for a big exam, will be given fluency questions to check their progress and then stretched and challenged with reasoning questions. Over my six years of teaching experience, I have a bank of resources that I use to deliver my lessons. Therefore, if a lesson or topic needs to be taught again due to a lack of understanding and progress, the lesson resources will not be the same and this gives me a true indication of the learners understanding.
