My cricket coaching has always taught me about the importance of student-led teaching. Simply standing in front of your students telling them how to do or say a certain thing is not enough, both from an enjoyment and results perspective. This means that instead of telling my students what something is, I instead pave the way for them to find this out independently.
In my lessons, students will take the lead with how they want to learn, be this through consistent testing, games, or perhaps using more visual tools. This ensures that they will not only learn more quickly, but will be more keen to come to every session.
Furthermore, as a languages graduate, I believe in the importance of the contextualisation of language learning. That is to say, that in order to learn a language, and make said learning more enjoyable, it is vital to understand the culture of the language, as this allows us to see the reasons why a language is the way it is, and highlights the important and fascinating differences between cultures and languages.
For example, I will use real-life examples in the British media to go through vocabulary on a particular topic, so that my students not only learn new words, but also how they are used in context.
I teach in the North London area, both remotely and in-person, and am willing to travel to your home for your convencience if needed!
