In my teaching, I emphasize the importance of sensory evaluation, food safety, and sustainability. Students learn to conduct data analysis, implement quality assurance measures like HACCP, and understand the role of sustainable packaging in the food industry.
In terms of professional growth I encourage practical experience in food manufacturing or for strengthening a CV.
Expose students to different sectors of the food industry. Guide students to set short-term and long-term career goals and to reflect on their skills development. Encourage students to learn from mistakes.
Finally my approach includes using pre-recorded modules to deliver content in bite-sized chunks, such as short videos, podcasts, and interactive presentations, enabling students to learn at their own pace. I'll also use digital databases for food science literature, YouTube channels featuring experts, and online recipe databases with nutritional data.
