Skills
Organising / Time management
I am required to be well organised and keep an eye on deadlines since, I am continually being assessed. Also, I developed effective time
management as I have to balance both coursework and exams.
Communication
Being able to communicate with others and take critical feedback is a key strength of mine as I enjoy listening to others and supporting them
through my encouragement. For example, from volunteering I have learnt how to communicate with other health care professions to deliver the
best patient care to meet the patients’ needs.
Leadership
I have previously had the responsibility of being a senior student in high school which gave me a significant number of responsibilities and
leadership opportunities. This was further enhanced when I joined my High School prom committee. For these roles I had to listen to my peers'
opinions then adapt them to best fit the theme, decorations and catering. Following on from that, I am currently a deputy head student at
Huddersfield New College and I have enjoyed the different roles such as representing the college on open days, talking to prospective students and
parents about the college. This role has further improved my leadership skills as I am working collaboratively with others listening to student’s
thoughts and opinions and enforcing action plans to improve things for students. I am also in talks to organise the first college prom as well.

Volunteer At Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. - Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
I started my placement at HRI within the Pharmacy in January and it is still ongoing. - My tasks are collecting and making orders, delivering
medication to wards and working with other dispensary managers.
- I am also, involved in guiding patients to their appointments. I ensure, I listen to patients, so they feel heard and welcomed. In my duties I follow
the NHS 7 care values of; working together for patients because patients come first in everything we do, respect, dignity, commitment to quality of
care, compassion, improving lives, and everyone counts. I would use these skills in the role of Head Student by pitching ideas and suggestions to
staff from students even if I don’t fully agree with it showing my commitment to make this happen.
I have faced many challenges, an example being in the hospital where I had to assist a distressed patient. The lady suffers with a rare form of
Tuberculosis and had been told there were few antibiotics she was able to take. I assisted her to her car, and she talked to me about her condition.
I comforted her and assured her all would be okay, and she thanked me. I have learnt to be compassionate and understanding with patients.

Painting.
Painting has been a creative outlet of mine for a few yeas now as it allows my creative side to flourish while being critical. I especially love making
paintings of architecture and nature as it is something that I find calming.

Here is an example of what a lesson would look like:
I would go through a simple question and go through a few examples and have you attempt a few questions. Following this we can build on their difficulty levels and discuss how we would find the answers. Then, we would go over exam questions and follow up on any reoccurring issues. For maths, practice is always the key not matter how challenging the question is practice is always the best way to improve.
