As a math teachers i’m focus not only on the content being taught but also on the students. And i’m always ready to support those who are having problems. These problems could be due to emotional distress, learning difficulties or illnesses. I’m okay with teaching the Pythagorean Theorem or Quadratic Formula without proof (these are pieces that can be picked up later), but most things are best presented in a way that makes mathematical sense. The knowledge will stick better, and teachers up the chain won’t have to reteach (AND UNTEACH) as much later.
