Hello, my name is Andy Scott. I am a friendly, patient, positive and understanding teacher with a good sense of humour and 17 years of teaching experience from Early Years to Year 6 in both the state and private sector.
My undergraduate degree in Geography at the University of Newcastle. After graduating, I achieved my Qualified Teacher Status on the Graduate Training Programme. In March 2012, I successfully completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Mathematics, and qualified as a Specialist Teacher of Mathematics.
I have a close affinity to young people and enjoy explaining things to them and exciting their interest and imagination. I regard it as crucial to raising young people’s aspirations, fulfilling their needs and realising their potential and I feel that with my commitment, enthusiasm and imagination, I could contribute substantially in this area. I realise that teaching is a dynamic two way learning process. I recognise that it is necessary to develop every pupil’s learning to maximise their potential. I appreciate that each pupil is unique with different educational, social and psychological needs. I believe my strong motivation, patience and positive and understanding attitude would ensure trust and mutual respect between the pupil and myself. I recognise that there needs to be a good liaison and understanding between myself and parents/carers to facilitate positive educational development. I aim to deliver practical, imaginative and interesting lessons as I believe that a pupil will only fully understand a subject if they can enjoy the teaching experience and can relate to the subject.
