I have been involved in education and more particularly, Philosophy, for roughly 15 years, studying with fervour at A level, continuing to study at University, and teaching at A level, eventually leading the department in Philosophy and Ethics and helping students access university. I mark at a national level, and have made teaching Philosophy and Religious Studies the cornerstone of my career . I love it, and love to engender the same passion for it in others.
A level study has been the cornerstone of my career in education; teaching it with excellence and diligence in all aspects, and taking real pride in my students successes. As a result of such outstanding results, and outstanding value added in APS scores, I have been involved in leading training in A level teaching, and have led training across the diocese on A level teaching and Philosophy. As well as this, I mark A level scripts of OCR, and have extensive experience in teaching both OCR and AQA Philosophy.
I have been fortunate enough to work in an outstanding department, with what I consider to be outstanding colleagues, for the last 4 years, and have come to realise exactly what it is that is required to continue in this vein, helping colleagues with their pedagogic technique, working particularly on engaging SEN, LAC, Pupil Premium students, and students from different backgrounds. This work has included delivering lectures on differentiation, and targeted pedagogic techniques. . I have realised that for students to succeed, they need to see the wider picture, and linking learning to the ever changing global picture is paramount.
