My lessons revolve around experiencing language rather than reciting grammar rules and drilling conjugation. With younger students, songs and games are utilized so that learning happens naturally. With older students, conversations are targeted at their interests and can range from basic small talk to business calibur English.
My extensive experience in TPR (Total Physical Response) and the AIM (Accelerative Integrated Method) method help me plan lessons around interacting with language. My classes have used these tools for almost a decade and have resulted in numerous students reaching fluency in addition to countless others building a solid foundation for future learning to occur.
My experience is predominantly with children aged 3-10 and adults. I have worked as an English teacher for four years after having taught primary school for four years. For the past three years, I have worked in Italy as the Director of Studies for a premier English program. My duties have ranged from organizing classes to planning and creating complete curriculums for all levels. This experience has given me an extensive understanding of how language progresses.
In addition to working as a teacher, I also am an English Summer Camp Director and Supervisor. I coordinate seven camps throughout Tuscany with students coming from France, China, Russia, Italy, and Spain.
Finally, I was born and raised in New York City by British parents so I am uniquely equiped to teach both British English and American English.
I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
