Andrew Sharp

I am a final year undergraduate at Royal Holloway University studying economics with a minor in econometrics (applied mathematics). I've spent the last two years during my studies working as a mathematics tutor amounting a large range of teaching experience from primary age pupils all the way to adults.

I also work as a tutor at the academic support centre at my university where I assist first year undergraduates, many of whom may not have studied A Level maths, to succeed in and understand their course materials. I have been told that my approach to teaching makes it impactful for my students as I am considered patient and very approachable. I also believe in giving back to the community which is why I volunteer a couple hours every week working with the charity Action Tutoring which runs breakfast club tutoring sessions for primary and secondary age pupils who need help preparing for their exams.

I am a friendly and supportive person who gets excellent results by making lessons fun as well as informative, and I like to leave all of the exam stress out of the class by breaking down difficult and confusing problems into simple, easy to remember steps. Finally, even though Covid has meant that many of us have had to adjust to learning and studying from behind a screen, I don't believe that this should mean lessons should be any less interactive and engaging, and by using useful features such as the interactive whiteboard, screenshare and annotate tools, my students can really get involved in their own learning.
