Hi, my name is Andrew!

My lessons are either in-person, or online depending on the tutees preference. Lessons are catered to specific needs. The first lesson will include an informal evaluation of the tutees abilities in order to know what next to develop from their existing knowledge and skill base. The dynamic of the lessons will be very easy-going with tutees encouraged to ask whatever questions whenever. Clear progress plans will be established and throughout the lessons development will continually be self-assessed (yet without creating pressure) in order to allow the tutee a clear vision of how to develop. Flexibility is provided and thus lesson style will be completely catered to the individual, i.e. if one works better with laptops/technology then that will be used, vice versa it will not.

I have experience tutoring university students, A-level, IB, and GCSE students, but can also tutor younger ages. My most recent university tutees received firsts in their dissertations with help from thorough tutoring on essay structure and clarity of idea presentation. Whilst, all my tutees have shown development.

I will help students with close analytical readings of texts, investigating points that the tutee finds interesting whether they be conventional or not. I place an emphasis on helping students to discover points of interest individually rather than tediously absorbing prior established ideas on over-analysed text. This will provide the student with applicable skills to other walks of life, as they follow the process of discovering new ideas, and then logically scribing these ideas with clarity, generating links to alternate and further ideas. The philosophy of Ralph Waldo Emerson is my theoretical basis for this system.

After living in many countries and interacting with people from all walks of life I am confident in my ability to get along with anyone and so am enthused to be a friendly tutor!

I hope to provide an enjoyable, not boring, learning experience centred around the tutees own creativeness and pre-existing knowledge and skills that with my enthusiasm for personal and academic development (hopefully contagious!) will be grown.
