Hello!/Bonjour!/¡Buenos días!
I am a graduate of Aston University with a BSc in French and Spanish, who has used foreign language skills socially and in the world of work for some years now.
I have experience in teaching a wide range of students (both children ages 11 to 18 and adults) in both Spanish and French, mainly in work in UK secondary schools, as well as teaching English as a foreign language to students aged 3 to 16 and in tutoring adults as well whilst living abroad. I am accustomed to preparing lesson plans according to syllabi or briefs, but due to my social and interactive nature, I enjoy tailoring the lessons towards my students' interests wherever possible: such as incorporating excerpts of film/television, music, and gearing topics of conversation or study towards sport, travel, whatever we feel would make the most engaging lesson.
I understand the importance of all disciplines when learning a language, so I always aim to incorporate elements of reading and aural comprehension, creative writing and of course speaking in any session. Whilst some of these elements may be intimidating to learners, I am experienced in helping people to build confidence and develop skills at an appropriate pace without applying pressure or stress to the situation.
Finally, I am passionate about the languages I speak so I will always bring an infectious enthusiasm to my sessions and offer insights beyond the vocabulary and grammar: be they etymology, cultural customs, slang or global influences to round the learning of a language into learning so much more!
