Each lesson is uniquely prepared and tailored for the student's learning needs and through examples and questioning, I guide students through each concept and check their understanding and ability to then apply their knowledge. I focus on the understanding of concepts rather than solely on memorisation of rules or procedures. If students are interested, I can also provide some historical or background information on the mathematics that we are studying. I am very passionate about maths and love to share this passion with my students, especially those who perhaps have not always had the best experience with studying maths in the past.

For online lessons I use Skype and Microsoft OneNote. I share my laptop screen and write on an iPad so that the lesson notes update in real time. The student also has the option to write in the lesson notes too if they have a suitable input device and the OneNote app. Everything written in the lesson is immediately available for the student to access at any time. I use questions from past exam papers and from various textbooks and resources to get students as familiar as possible with the style of questions for their course.

I have taught in schools in Scotland, Switzerland and Thailand during the past 15 years helping hundreds of students find success in their GCSE, A Level and Further A Level Maths courses.
