Hi I'm Andrés, I have recently finished a PhD at the University of Cardiff. My project focus was on how catalysts work using synthetic and computational techniques. I have an MRes from Cardiff university (in catalysis and chemical engineering), an MSc from the University of Warwick (in polymer chemistry) and a BSc (Hons) in biomedical chemistry from the same institution. I have much passion and enthusiasm for chemistry and I was fortunate enough to spend some time within industry where I put my skills to use as a research scientist at Sensient Technologies and later, an analyst at national gas. I’m currently looking to get involved in more chemistry based research (Bring on more chemistry!).

I previously tutored A-level and GCSE students online and face to face, I've also had the opportunity to perform and explain chemistry demonstrations within local schools and at outreach events. In addition to this, I have been involved in various university mentoring schemes where I was able to act as an extra point of contact for university students. Through this I am able to explain complex ideas to all audiences in an intuitive way that is easy to understand.

I understand that the sciences can be a little tricky at times and not everyone learns in the same way. For this reason, I like to encourage students to actively participate in lessons and ask as many questions as they need to achieve a good understanding of the subject. I have a patient and friendly approach and strive to make sessions as enjoyable and fun as possible.

If you have any queries please please get in touch and I will happily answer any questions.
