Experienced in teaching students of all levels of aptitude and all age groups (from secondary to A-level). I tend to tailor lessons to the individual with a couple of diagnostic and self-evaluation sessions initially. In person sessions are interective, with good two-way communication focusing on strengthening general science understanding and formulating effective recall strategies. In practice, this looks like: using a powerpoint presentation as a scaffold, Q&A, explanations, using paper or a whiteboard to bounce off ideas and quick assess. Different materials can be used as needed. On-line sessions can be tailored accordingly. For exam year students, it is important to clearly identify strengths and weaknesses, develop synoptic links between topics and work on exam technique.
