I cater each lesson to the individual or group, so a preliminary session would involve a discussion about your needs and what you would like to work towards. As a general rule, there would be an introduction, a practical presentation, time for practice and guidance, then a critique and suggestions for improvement and further learning/homework. All of this would be agreed before commencing lessons and we would work towards whatever goals are identified in the preliminary session.
If we are working towards an exam on an accredited course, I would ensure that all of the criteria for the course are being met and follow the guidelines set out by the examining body. We would set a schedule to meet the requirements in time for the exam and evaluate our progress regularly.
I have experience in supporting students at all levels, from beginners to Foundation Degree. I am available to support students with applications to Higher Education and Portfolio presentation. I also have extensive knowledge and experience of delivering high quality 'art for wellbeing' sessions for small and large groups.
I work particularly well with students who are experiencing mental health difficulties and ensure that all of my sessions are relaxed and enjoyable, whilst following a clear and organised structure. 'Happy accidents' in art are celebrated and the focus is on progress and experimentation.
I also love the history of art and bring this into my sessions, and I put art into context with what is happening in our world today. I am very inclusive and use art examples from a variety of nationalities and cultures.
