Hello and thank you for taking the time to explore my profile. My name is Andrea and I'm a German native living in the UK.

My lessons are aimed at adult students at beginner level (A1), e.g. expats or their partners/family members, those planning to travel to Germany or hobby learners. Classes are held online using either Google Meet or Skype Meet.

Having studied several languages myself, I understand the difficulties of mastering a new language. My background as a translator and interpreter provides a solid linguistic and cultural foundation, enabling me to guide you through any challenges along your learning journey. I'm able to explain complex grammar concepts in simple terms while always maintaining a focus on real life language application.

Before commencing lessons, we'll discuss your goals, motives and needs, so I can tailor classes accordingly and ensure you get the most out of them.

I take a structured yet relaxed approach with each lesson covering all the aspects of language learning: practicing conversational skills, expanding vocabulary and working through grammar topics step by step. There will also be homework, so you can make progress and further deepen your language skills. During lessons I always make notes of new vocabulary and grammar concepts in Google Docs which I'll share with you for future reference.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

I studied Interpreting and Translation for English and Russian at the University of Leipzig in Germany and was awarded the degree of Diplom-Dolmetscher. My thesis explored the topic of Cultural Aspects of British-German Business Communication.

I have since worked as a translator both freelance and in-house for an embassy and a leading language service provider for 10+ years.

For the past 2 years now I have been teaching German online as a private tutor.
