I am a final year PhD student in Chemical Biology and Biological Imaging after having completed my undergrad and Masters in Medicinal and Biological Chemsitry at the University of Edinburgh. I have extensive demonstrating and tutoring experience and pride myself in my teaching ability at any level.

I was a tutor and demonstrator for University students, and have experience with
teaching throughout my PhD. In these capacities, I had the opportunity to impart basic and complex concepts in chemistrythrough lab sessions, interactive tutorials, online small group tutorials, and as a student supervisor. These roles have allowed me to adapt lessons, facilitate discussions, and provide hands-on guidance to ensure students understood the course content and principles fully. Alongside teaching aspects, the roles involved assessments, marking and
contributing extensive feedback to student lab reports, presentations, and assignments.
Beyond my roles as a student demonstrator, I have also carried out 1-1 student-tutor
sessions with students at high school level in Maths, Chemistry, and Biology. Noticing the
difference in teaching styles required to teach younger students have made me reflect
further on my pedagogical approaches.

I format my lessons by using the curriculum as a guide but remaining open to deviating from it to explore areas of interest of the student. I tutor Chemistry and Biology at Nat 5, Higher, Advanced Higher and Chemistry and Organic Chemistry at Undergrad level.

I take input from my student and value any input or feedback at anytime. In my lessons, we relate abstract concepts to everyday life phenoma and remain and aim to simplify complex topics by breaking them down to their basics.

Ander is a very patient and supportive tutor. My son had to catch up with Nat5 Chemistry material, and Ander has helped him cover the whole of Nat5 syllabus -- which is normally covered over 2 years in school -- in less than one academic year (with only 1hr a week!). This was done to a great standard and my son is now completing mock Nat5 Chemistry exams at a very high level. Ander is also very kind, easy to get on with and flexible with re-arranging missed lessons etc. Highly recommended.
