My teaching methods are set out in a chronological and organized manner.
I teach according to the specification of all subject areas to ensure all content is covered. To make sure all content is covered I create a chart that contains each module and its subchapter of the subject, and I ask the child to assess their confidence in each subchapter using this chart. In areas in which confidence is lacking, I make sure to cover these again patiently and in detail.
To assess the progress made by an individual, I make sure to incorporate 25% passive learning methods and 75% active learning methods. Active learning has been shown to be more effective in both learning and retaining information which is why I make this my main focus. Methods of active learning I use are exam-style questions, exam papers, and flashcards.
I like to make sure students are engaging with the lesson by actively participating rather than me teaching the lesson with no input from them. I try and incorporate a range of learning methods to ensure the lessons are both effective and fun.
I want to be able to make learning an enjoyable experience for the student rather than something they feel they 'have' to do. I would like to achieve this by making sure my lessons are tailored to each individual's needs and I am sure this will help me develop a good relationship with the students, their parents both. I look forward to making education an enjoyable experience!
