Ana Maria Martins

I am a Portuguese aspiring performance artist, theatre maker, and filmmaker based in Glasgow, and am passionate about encouraging creativity, individuality, empathy, and courage to be inquisitive from a very young age. I have recently completed my studies and have a First Class Bachelor's Degree in Film and Theatre. During secondary school, I have volunteered with children from the ages of 5-13 as a summer counsellor as a way to give back to my community. Now, I wish to resume inspiring growth in a different setting - one-to-one after-school sessions (in English or Portuguese; online or in Central/West End Glasgow) for primary school children (all ages) where I can provide assistance and undivided support to your child's unique learning needs. My focus is to gather an extensive understanding on what the most efficient learning methods might be for specific children. From this, we can together create a plan to consolidate subject matters taught in school and prepare for evaluations/independent work. In these sessions, we tackle any and all school subjects that need special consideration as we cultivate curiosity - English, Maths, Sciences, Design and Technology, Art and Music, History and Geography, etc... available. The dynamics of the lessons will be centred around how your child best engages with the topic and the tutoring, and we will work as a team to tackle curriculum subjects with our own inventiveness and expressiveness as the core foundations. We will start by getting to know each other and build trust, as we steadily move into areas of difficulty in school, which we do not so easily identify with, and find new, original ways to connect with them and participate in continuous learning.
