My lessons involve a lot of discussion and participation as English is a topic that requires exploration. I use simple yet informational presentations that the students can refer back to during their revision. At the end of each lesson, I tend to do some short exam practice, which will increase over time, in order to test their skills. Lessons will also include active recall of textual and contextual content to check their understanding. Students will also have a further opportunity to interact as I may give homework to do research on specific topic areas, which they may present in the following lesson. I use Google meets to carry out lessons and Google classroom to upload all the resources I can find under headings and subheadings. This resource can also be used by the student to upload any essays they would like marking and feedback on. I have been a tutor for two years now and worked across three different teaching organisations. I achieved two grade 9s in English Literature and English Language and I am now starting Medicine at Queen’s University of Belfast. I have worked with GCSE students in the past with both English literature and English language where there was a clear growth in their understanding of the subject. I hope to build a strong relationship with each student that I have in order for them to grow their own confidence and strength in the subject and navigate through the specific skills in essay writing that examiners are interested in.
