I tailor my lessons to suit my students level and preferences. Every student learns in a different way so I am extremely adaptable. Before each lesson, we will talk about what you want to achieve, some of your expectations, and potential ways in which we can achieve them.
Each student will receive their own Notion page / database which I will use to track their progress and fill with notes for their own self-reflection. This will include topics covered, confidence levels, what needs improving on, strengths, weaknesses, etc.
I use a variety of different methods to teach, here are a few:
- iPAD WHITEBOARD
Breaking down topics and explaining them in a handwritten, colourful, visual way.
- WORKING THROUGH QUESTIONS
Curating a set of questions that focuses on areas where a student may want/need more work in, and giving step-by-step work throughs of getting to the answer.
- TOPIC PRESENTATIONS
High-yield PowerPoint presentations with accompanying fact and/or worksheets which a student can use for revision afterwards
I have prior experience tutoring kids in GCSE subject matter, as a personal tutor for friends and family, and also during my team in Sixth Form and school school as part of prefect duties and extracurricular activities. I enjoy teaching, and even as a medical student, I custom-built a platform called medschoolessentials which is a free learning resource for medical students at the University of Birmingham.
I plan to create a similar platform for my students, which will focus on personalised, tailored resources for them. Watch this space!
